The movie revolves around the life of a tax collector who is accused of taking bribes, and also has to deal with problems at home, including the suicide attempt of his wife.

In this film, Aghdashloo plays Azam, the wife of a civil servant named Mahmad Firuzkui (Kurosh Afsharpanah), who works as a tax investigator at the Ministry of Finance. Along with their daughter, a toddler, the couple live in a small Tehran apartment, and although Azam believes Mahmad spends too much time working, they never seem to have enough money. Their car is in need of repairs and they owe back rent. What's more, Mahmad's gregarious friend and coworker, Mustapha Asadi (Mostafa Tari), has him staying out late at night and filling in on the job at a casino on weekends.
